Samara Joy
Do you want to dream for one evening? Samara Joy comes back to the Théâtre Antique, after her first success there in 2023. This major discovery of vocal jazz has a deep voice and a natural swing. Strongly modern, this successor of the great jazz leaders embodies pure emotion. She reminds us in a way of the legends Sarah Vaughan, Betty Carter and Abbey Lincoln. She was born in the Bronx and studied gospel. In 2019, she won the prestigious international competition Sarah Vaughan, which marked the beginning of an explosive professional career. Coproduced with Brian Lynch, a conductor who won several Grammy Awards, her last album Portrait reveals an already mature artist, with close band members: the bright swing and the ultimate arrangements combine her writing skills and pieces of Charles Mingus, Sun Ra and Barry Harris, her late guide. This concert is a promise of grace.
Maria Schneider & Clasijazz big band
Focus Espagne
This is a great event! Maria Schneider, the most prolific and respected conductor, composer and arranger of the last 30 years, will masterfully conduct the Clasijazz Big Band, a big ensemble of 22 musicians from Spain, with two special guests: the accordionist Philippe Thuriot, who knows very well the heritage of Bach and the rich worlds of improvisation, and Antonio Lizana, the great alto saxophonist and singer from Andalusia. Everyone knows by heart the cult albums of this artist from Windom, in Minnesota: Evanescence, Sky Blue, The Thompson Fields or Data Lords. And we will never forget about her memorable collaboration with David Bowie. Thus, there is no doubt that Clasijazz Big Band will offer incredible colourful sounds, connecting the best of jazz from Europe and the United-States, as a musical, honourable and bright response to the dark global outlook.

Melissa Aldana & Levi Harvey trio
Since its creation in 2019, the initiative Talents Adami Jazz gives the possibility to a cherry-picked French ensemble to collaborate during one year with a world-renowned artist in order to create an original repertoire for three major festivals: Jazz sous les pommiers, Jazz à la Villette and Jazz à Vienne. This edition’s mentor is the Chilean saxophonist Melissa Aldana who built a solid reputation on the very competitive scene of New York before becoming one of the references of the legendary label Blue Note. She chose the pianist Levi Harvey, the bass player Cyril Drapé and the drummer Pierre-Eden Guilbaud, whose modern sensitivity and knowledge of tradition seduced her. This concert, which will be the penultimate one in their short but intense journey, is an unmissable opportunity to take part in the writing of a common history which will mark the rest of their career.
