Jazz Day
Concerts, jam sessions, screenings: Jazz Day is 24 hours of jazz across the entire region, from Lyon to Vienne, Saint-Étienne to Villefranche-sur-Saône, Bourgoin-Jallieu to Mâcon.
It was in 2011 that the legendary Herbie Hancock and UNESCO established International Jazz Day. Since then, organised throughout France and in major cities around the world, Jazz Day has aimed to raise public awareness of the virtues of jazz. The date of 30 April has become a gathering for jazz lovers and an opportunity to celebrate sharing and cultural fusion, the values that define the identity of this music.
For the past 11 years, Jazz à Vienne has coordinated this event in the region. To celebrate this day, numerous artists take part in the festivities with a programme that brings together artistic and cultural disciplines. Bars, museums, concert halls, cinemas... all these venues host musical projects from the region.
On 30 April, jazz spreads everywhere and at all hours, from morning until late at night!
