While it has become more common to hear blends of jazz and contemporary Caribbean music over the past years, fusions with South American music are still few and far between in this hemisphere. This Franco-Colombian band is turning things around. Their unique music combines traditional Latin American vocals and instruments with ravishing riffs and the full panoply of jazz instruments to create a fresh and explosive blend that's immediately catchy and familiar and yet resembles nothing to be found in contemporary circles. This concert is all the more significant after the release last year of their third album, Oi Vé, which came out seven years after their debut. Pixvae are flag bearers for Colombian music; get ready for an unforgettable concert!
