MARSAVRIL

MARSAVRIL is a band formed in 2022 when four musicians came together, united by a shared love of contemporary jazz and improvised music. The project quickly found its identity: a collective sound, an open approach to composition, and a dynamic energy on stage. In 2023–2024, the group was supported by the Le Tympan collective, a key milestone that led to a filmed live session and a series of well-received concerts, notably at Temps Machine (SMAC in Tours) and Le Bateau Ivre. In March 2024, MARSAVRIL won the Jazz de Mars competition, which led them to open for Erik Truffaz at the Atelier à Spectacle in Dreux. That evening marked a decisive encounter with Antoine de la Roncière of Le Petit Faucheux, who joined the adventure. Sponsored by Le Petit Faucheux, the group then participated in the Jazz Migration #10 program, which they won. At the same time, MARSAVRIL developed a self-produced discography with Mars (March 2023), Avril (April 2023), and Mixtape (March 2024), as well as a live performance released in April 2024. Driven by a desire to blend certain aspects of contemporary music with modern jazz—particularly through visual elements—the group pays special attention to its artistic environment. Based in Tours, MARSAVRIL surrounds itself with trusted collaborators and works closely with Louise Lécrivain and Julien Phillips, who play a key role in shaping the project’s identity. In 2025, MARSAVRIL hits the road for a tour of some twenty concerts as part of Jazz Migration, with several dates in France and abroad (Paris La Défense Jazz Festival, Jazz in Bremen, etc.). The group is currently preparing a new album, supported by Le Petit Faucheux, accompanied by two live sessions.
