Lucía Rey is one of the most distinctive and recognizable voices in contemporary Spanish jazz. A pianist and composer of remarkable sensitivity, she conceives of music as a space for storytelling and exploration, where each piece unfolds as a sonic and emotional journey. As Adrián Besada writes in Mas Jazz Magazine: “Lucía Rey is not only a pianist with exceptional taste and technique, but also a storyteller. She conceives her music through narrative—sonic, visual, and conceptual—which permeates the entire process of creation and performance.” Trained at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid and at international institutions such as the Higher Institute of Arts in Cuba, the Brooklyn Conservatory, and The Collective in New York, and guided by masters like Barry Harris, Noah Haidu, and Bruce Barth, Lucía has developed a unique artistic voice that fuses contemporary jazz with flamenco, Mediterranean influences, classical tradition, and elements of Latin jazz. Her career has led her to perform at some of the most prestigious festivals nationally and internationally, including the San Sebastián International Jazz Festival (Jazzaldia), Jazz Madrid, Jazz de Getxo, Jazz en la Costa, Jazz Plaza in Havana, Stuttgart Latin Jazz Festival, Jazz in the Park (Romania), the Buenos Aires Jazz Festival, the Sicilia Jazz Festival, and Jazz Equinoxe (France), among others. Lucía Rey presents her latest project, Nómadas, today, an album nominated for Best Jazz Album at the Spanish Academy of Music Awards and the +Músicas Award, and winner of the Plataforma Jazz España Award. The pianist will be accompanied by Ander García on double bass and Alberto Brenes on drums, in a trio format praised for its deep musical connection, creative freedom, and expressive intensity.
