“Miles en musique”

To mark the 100th anniversary of Miles Davis’s birth and the 45th edition of the Jazz à Vienne festival, the Musée d’Histoire de Vienne – église Saint-Pierre will host the exhibition “Miles Davis, 100 ans d'influence” from June 25 to July 11, 2026, from 2 pm to 7 pm. A major figure in the festival’s history and an absolute legend of jazz, Miles Davis will be celebrated through an immersive and evocative journey designed to explore his body of work and his era.

The exhibition features a section titled “Miles en musique”. Every day at 2 pm, a guest speaker will invite the audience to immerse themselves in the artist’s musical world.

On 29th of June, rediscover the Miles Davis quintet with Julien Bertrand!

Julien Bertrand is a trumpeter and composer. Born in 1980 in Clermont-Ferrand, he earned his degrees in classical music from the conservatories in Bordeaux and Boulogne-Billancourt while also taking improvisation classes with Jean-Luc Capozzo and Éric Poirier.

He moved to Lyon in 2002 to study orchestration and trumpet with Pierre Drevet. Since then, Julien Bertrand has pursued a career as a musician, arranger, composer, and teacher of trumpet and jazz. He writes for trumpet and brass ensembles, concert bands, big bands, and various small jazz groups. This composer’s music reflects all of his musical influences, ranging from 20th-century French composers (Ravel) to jazz musicians (John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Roy Hargrove) and other musical styles (hip-hop, reggae, jungle).
