Jeanette Berger
Jeanette Berger
Jeanette Berger cultivates a rare voice, capable of both intimacy and fiery passion. Discovered as a piano-vocal artist with “Blues Prayer”, she went on to perform at Jazz à Vienne, Solidays, and New Morning festivals, founded Blue Moon Records, and recorded In My Mind at the Maison des Artistes in Chamonix, under the guidance of André Manoukian. A live album followed in 2020. With her second studio album, Do Your Thing, she truly comes into her own: sensual soul, clear pop, gospel embers, and a tenacious funky groove. Tracks like “Keep Me Burning”, “Do Your Thing”, and “Sunshine in the Dark” speak of overcoming a difficult past and finding newfound freedom, carried by brass, keyboards, backing vocals, and a precise rhythm section. She evokes Norah Jones, Beth Hart, and Alicia Keys, yet her own distinctive style remains. Direct writing, a gentle crack: Jeanette Berger hits the mark, without pastiche.
