Drake University Jazz I

Drake University Jazz I, under the direction of Professor Andrew Classen, is Drake University’s premier jazz ensemble. The jazz program is very dynamic and active in the region. Drake University Jazz I tours the region annually and has won the college division of the UW-Eau Claire Jazz Festival eight times, having competed in the festival every year. In addition to its annual regional tour, the ensemble embarks on an international tour every four years. In 2018, Drake University Jazz I traveled to China and performed for the ambassador at the U.S. Embassy. The ensemble also traveled to South America for another international tour in 2022. It has also performed in England, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Switzerland, and Italy.
