Ahead of your arrival

Let the team know you will be attending

People with disabilities are invited to fill out the accessibility form ‘formulaire Handi-accueil’’. This ensures our teams are ready ahead of your arrival and time at the festival.

Tickets

Entry is free for companions upon presentation of a disability card indicating the need for a companion or upon that of a medical certificate, if applicable. Please indicate if this is the case when filling out the Accessibility form (‘formulaire Handi-accueil’).

Programme & documentation

Several documents are available for download ahead of your arrival

Getting here

By train

A member of the Accessibility team (‘équipe Handi-accueil’) can meet you at Vienne station and accompany you on your way to any of the festival venues. This must be arranged beforehand, either by phone or via the Accessibility form (‘formulaire Handi-accueil’).

On the free L’Va shuttle

The L’va shuttles are accessible to people with reduced mobility. They have low floors, a retractable ramp and spaces reserved for wheelchair users. The shuttle stops on rue Victor Hugo, near the Théâtre Antique (there is a lift on rue Victor Hugo to get up to rue des Célestes or to go down to passage Saint-Antoine).

By car - drop-off area

There is a drop-off area reserved for people with disabilities since it is often difficult to park near the Théâtre Antique. It is located on Montée St Marcel, on the downward lane, opposite n°6. The Accessibility team (‘équipe Handi-accueil’) will meet you there. For drivers with a Blue Badge (‘carte CMI’, disabled parking permit), there are spaces in the Saint-Marcel car park close to the Théâtre Antique. Places must be reserved beforehand via the Accessibility form (‘formulaire Handi-accueil’).

On-site access

Steep streets, narrow pavements, etc. make accessing the festival stages rather difficult.  That's why our Accessibility team is positioned in strategic locations to help people with disabilities get from the various arrival points to the festival sites.

Specific Accessibility (“Handi-accueil”) signage highlights dedicated access points and equipment. Members of the Accessibility team (“équipe Handi-accueil”) are easily identifiable in their pink polo shirts.

On-site

Accessibility Information Point (‘Point-info handi-accueil’)

Upon arriving at the Théâtre Antique, please make your way to the Accessibility Information Point (‘Point Information Handi-accueil’) to get access to the reserved areas. If you have not already filled out the Accessibility form (formulaire Handi-accueil), you will be asked to present a disability card or medical certificate. The Information Points have the following resources:

Dedicated documentation

  • Large print programme
  • Easy Read booklet
  • Accessibility maps of the Théâtre Antique and Cybèle

Equipement

  • Vibrating vests for people who are deaf or hard of hearing*
  • Back rests for people who may need support while in a sitting position*
  • Protective helmets for children*
  • Earplugs
  • Wheelchair in case anyone injures themselves or for people with mobility difficulties

* This equipment is provided in exchange for an identity document and is subject to availability.

Reserved accessibility areas at the Théâtre Antique

Accessibility areas have been reserved for people with disabilities at the Théâtre Antique. You will need to request access at the Accessibility Information Point (‘Point Information Handi-accueil’). Members of the Accessibility team (‘équipe Handi-accueil’) manage seating.

  • The platform is located on the Théâtre Antique's proscenium. The view from the platform is excellent. Access is restricted to wheelchair users and their companions as long as there is room.
  • Tiered seating for people with disabilities: Another accessible area has been reserved in the first rows of the Théâtre Antique's tiered seating, close to the platform. A temporary staircase provides secure access. For those who need one, lumbar support cushions are available at the Accessibility Information Points (‘Point Information Handi-accueil’) (in exchange for an identity card).

Support for people who are deaf or hard of hearing

  • Vibrating vests are available at Cybèle, the Théâtre Antique and the Club. They can be borrowed by people who are deaf and hard of hearing in exchange for an identity document (subject to availability).
  • Welcome desk hearing loops are installed at the Accessibility Information Points, at Cybèle and the Théâtre Antique.
  • Whenever possible, a French sign language (“LSF”) volunteer will be present every evening at the Accessibility Information Point to assist people who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • As for previous editions of the festival, there will be another signed performance this year. People who are deaf or hard of hearing can take advantage of discounted €23 tickets. Please request yours by emailing handi-accueil@jazzavienne.com.

Catering areas & bars

All catering areas and bars are equipped with lowered counters, which are suitable for people with reduced mobility. Each area also has a priority queue. Please feel free to use them! Since getting around can be more difficult when it is busy, team members are available to help people with disabilities.

Accessible toilets

Accessible toilets for wheelchair users are provided in the following locations:

  • At the Théâtre Antique: at the general public's entrance, in the reception building (‘entrée du public, bâtiment d'accueil’), as well as at the Pass-holders' (‘abonnés’) entrance, next to the toilet block.
  • At Cybèle: on the platform. Please ask for the access code at the Accessibility Information Point (“Point Information Handi-accueil”).

Assistance dogs

Assistance dogs are welcome. Please indicate that you intend to bring an assistance dog in the Accessibility form (‘formulaire handi-accueil’).

Fridge

Fridges are available to keep medicine cool. Please use the Accessibility form (‘formulaire Handi-accueil’) to tell us whether you will need access to a fridge.
