JAZZ À VIENNE CAFÉ

The festival is all about getting together and sharing music. This year, from June 25 to July 11, which were the original dates of the 2020 festival, the bars, cafés and restaurants of Vienne will broadcast shows from previous Jazz à Vienne editions. Treat yourselves with a meal or an evening outdoors and listen to the finest performances in the history of the festival.

TWO ONE-OFF PERFORMANCES

Two concerts specifically designed for this one-off edition of Jazz à Vienne will be given behind closed doors in the Roman Theatre of Vienne, where the heart and soul of live music is alive and kicking. The unique performances will be available on Culturebox on July 2, with the duet Ballaké Sissoko and Vincent Ségal, and Eric Legnini + special guests Thomas Dutronc & Hugh Coltman.

18 VISIONS ON JAZZ - 15 COUNTRIES

Exceptional times call for exceptional projects. On June 30, 18 Jazz à Vienne partner festivals from 15 different countries will join forces online at 6 p.m. for a special video broadcast on Jazz à Vienne YouTube channel. The night will be all about opening up and sharing cultures, with a compilation of concerts extracts from all over the world. Join us for a round-the-world trip with video recordings provided by the cream of international jazz festivals: Festival International Echternach, Sampa Jazz Festival, Tokyo Jazz Festival, Cosmo Jazz Festival, Nice Jazz Festival, Udin&Jazz, İstanbul Caz Festivali, Rimouski Festi Jazz International, Montréal Jazz Festival, Togoville Jazz Festival, Montreux Jazz Festival, Biguine Jazz Festival, Jazz sous les Pommiers, X Jazz festival, Essligen Jazz Festival,  JAZZIAM, Marseille Jazz and Jazz à Vienne.
There will be 18 musical extracts to (re)discover Omar Sosa & Yilian Canizares, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, China Moses & Tri4th, Ibrahim Maalouf, Ornette Coleman, Okay Temiz, Yahya Dai, Barış Ertürk, Christian McBride, The Brooks, Elom 20CE, Jacob Collier feat. ALL DAY LONG

The legendary All Night Jazz cannot unfortunately take place on July 11, but the Roman Theatre will not remain silent. With the All Day Long event, Jazz à Vienne offers a compilation of concerts recorded during previous editions and available on Jazz à Vienne YouTube channel. Join us and delve into the very soul of Jazz à Vienne!

FESTIVAL STAKEHOLDERS
From June 25 to July 11, discover every day an interview of one participant in the festival. Be they artists, volunteers or festival-goers, performing on stage, backstage or in the stalls, they are all vital to the success of Jazz à Vienne.

EPHEMERAL RADIO
Last summer, Crock radio from the radio network Ferarock covered the festival for the 20^th time. This year, the radio decided to join the programme “Jazz à Vienne – édition limitée !” and offer special Crock Shows dedicated to Jazz à Vienne every weeknight from 5 to 6 p.m. Let’s travel through the 40 editions of the festival thanks to this ephemeral radio broadcasted live in the streets of Vienne.

Saturday June 20

11 p.m. - FIP – CONCERT RERUN: for the special World Music Day programme La Nuit de la création imagined by FIP, the radio broadcasts the opening concert of the 39^th edition of Jazz à Vienne, Up Above my Head, recorded on June 28 2019. It was a Jazz à Vienne creation entrusted to pianist Raphaël Lemonnier, with singers Camille and Sandra Nkaké, and musicians Raphaël Imbert, Pierre-François Dufour, Christophe Minck and Clément Ducol.

Sunday June 21

3.5 p.m. – MEZZO TV – CONCERT RERUN: All summer, Jazz à Vienne can count on a partnership with the channel Mezzo, with a special programme dedicated to the festival. On June 21, watch the rerun of Guillaume Peret’s early morning live show which closed the All Night Jazz of the 37^th edition of Jazz à Vienne.

9 p.m. - TELEGRENOBLE – CONCERTS RERUN: Every Sunday night at 9 p.m. until July 19 (June 28 excluded), local TV channel Télégrenoble for French department Isère offers reruns of Jazz à Vienne concerts in the programme “Jazz en live le Dimanche”. On June 21, watch Manu Katché (Jazz à Vienne 2014), Chick Corea (Jazz à Vienne 2012) and Taj Mahal (Jazz à Vienne 2014).

Tuesday June 23

8 p.m. – TSF JAZZ – LIVE SHOW: From June 1 to 26, listen to TSF Jazz for the Studio Grands Boulevards Festival. Enjoy 3 weeks of live shows in the studio, with the cream of French jazz scene. On June 23, enjoy a special Jazz à Vienne night with the concert of Jonathan Jurion, initially scheduled this summer at the Club de Minuit. 5 – 6 p.m. – CROCK RADIO – SPECIAL PROGRAMME: Every weeknight from June 25 to July 11, Crock Radio offers special Crock Shows dedicated to Jazz à Vienne. A great opportunity to delve into the 40-year records of the festival! The ephemeral radio will be broadcasted live in the streets of Vienne.

CULTUREBOX – CONCERT RERUN: watch a rerun of Black Star’s concert from July 7 2018, which marked the long-awaited reunion of the legendary duet Yasiin Bey and Talib Kweli, on stage with the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble in the Roman Theatre.

CULTUREBOX – CONCERT RERUN: Watch Aguas d’Yilian Canizares and Omar Sosa’s concert which enchanted the Roman Theatre on July 8 2019.

9 – 11 p.m. – FRANCE INTER – CONCERT RERUN: France Inter is a long-standing partner of Jazz à Vienne and invites us this summer with 4 special shows dedicated to the festival and hosted by Matthieu Conquet. On June 28, enjoy a rerun of Manu Dibango’s live show at Jazz à Vienne in July 2019, a “Safari Symphonique” with the Orchestre national de Lyon and special guests Flavia Coelho and Manou Gallo.

11.5 p.m. – MEZZO TV – CONCERT RERUN: Watch the concert of Rhoda Scott and the Lady Quartet + special guest Bernard Purdie (Jazz à Vienne 2018).

11 a.m. – LE GRIGRI – PLAYLIST: The web radio Grigri created a special compilation in tribute to Jazz à Vienne, with songs from Manu Dibango, Herbie Hancock, Mos Def, The Roots, Anthony Joseph, Roy Hargrove, Cheick Tidiane Seck, Brad Mehldau, Tigran, Magic Malik, Limousine and Guillaume Perret.

10 a.m. – CULTUREBOX – LIVE SHOW: Pamper yourselves with a one-off live show in the empty Roman Theatre: the duet Ballaké Sissoko & Vincent Ségal, followed by the trio Éric Legnini + special guests Thomas Dutronc & Hugh Coltman.

8 – 9 p.m. – JAZZ RADIO – SPECIAL PROGRAMME: For 1 hour, Claude Zennaro delves into the last editions of the festival.

Saturday July 4

12 a.m. – 2 p.m. – NOVA LYON - SPECIAL PROGRAMME: In his programme « Midi dans la gueule du monde », Mathieu Girod pays tribute to 4 decades of music and talks about the artists he met at Jazz à Vienne year after year. He’ll share the interviews of Manu Dibango, Bonga, Hermeto Pascoal, Ahmad Jamal, Angélique Kidjo, Tank and the Bangas, Kokoroko, Ibeyi and Chassol, to name but a few.

5.30 p.m. – RCF LYON - SPECIAL PROGRAMME: Hosted by Luc Hernandez, the programme « Comme si on y était » takes us on a trip inside the great festivals and invites Benjamin Tanguy, the artistic director of Jazz à Vienne.

Sunday July 5

1.5 p.m. & 6.5 p.m. – RFI - SPECIAL PROGRAMME: « L'Épopée des musiques noires » hosted by Joe Farmer on RFI offers a special programme with a rerun of the concerts of the legendary American bands The Commodores and Kool & the Gang, recorded in July 2014 at Jazz à Vienne!

3 p.m. – MEZZO TV – CONCERT RERUN: Watch the concert of Yaron Herman (Jazz à Vienne 2017).
