Second Line with James Andrews

Dancers are invited to join the second line* led by James Andrews, a distinguished trumpeter and native of the Tremé neighborhood. Accompanied by seven musicians, he will transform the streets of Vienna into a grand parade reflecting the fusion of French, African, and American cultures in a festive and lively atmosphere worthy of New Orleans. So, follow the beat and come dance just as you are!

*With its rolling drumbeat, the second line is inextricably linked to New Orleans jazz. The term primarily refers to the second line of parades and other brass band processions through the streets of Tremé or the French Quarter. This folk tradition was passed down from slaves who came from Africa.
