BA.Baribulles

A musical “B” to “A” for little ears and big imaginations

From stammering to babbling, our two characters discover each other, interact, grow close, improvise, and embark on a ballet of sound balls. From Bamako to Bali, via Bannalec and the Balkans, without shying away from countless imagined sonic bazaars, Chloé and Ronan play with sounds, swing rhythms without a baton, dabble in improvisations, and deliver a colorful world of sound. They sweep the young audience into a grand, exhilarating ball of emotions, leaving the little ones utterly spellbound…

Audience: children ages 0 to 4

Performers:

  • Chloé Cailleton (vocals)
  • Ronan Le Gouriérec (baritone saxophone)

Graphical representation of music

How can we grasp the different rhythms and contrasts found in drawing or painting if not by listening to different styles of music? This workshop invites participants to listen to a wide variety of musical genres (jazz, rock, ethnic, classical, etc.), performed by Guillaume Lavergne on keyboards and various small percussion instruments, in order to translate these rhythms into graphic form. Through this listening experience, participants are invited to let go of rational thought and translate onto paper the emotion, rhythm, and imagery evoked by the musical rhythms. It is a time for pleasure and discovery, a time for surprise, free from any judgment of “good” or “bad” drawing. It is a time to discover the tools—the reed pen, India ink, and paper.

Audience: all levels, ages 15 and up

Facilitators:

  • Pierre Constantin (painting)
  • Guillaume Lavergne (keyboards, percussion)
