À propos de l’édition

The first impact at the festival was the original poster by Bruno Théry, who would go on to design all the event’s posters until 2017. The first visit to Vienne of George Benson, Stéphane Grappelli, Carlos Santana and Dave Brubeck were acclaimed by big, enthusiastic audiences. The death of Chet Baker a few days before the festival prevented this prodigious artist from attending, but a memorable evening was devoted to his memory. Michel Petrucciani entered the major league alongside Gary Peacock and Roy Haynes. Dizzy Gillespie closed the festival with his big band and Afro-Cuban rhythms.
