Just Friends is a piano-vocal duo formed by Mathilde Belland (vocals) and Pierre Vaumont (piano, vocals), both students at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Lyon. Born out of a musical rapport and a shared passion for the jazz repertoire, the duo offers a personal reinterpretation of standards, seeking a balance between respect for tradition and freedom of interpretation. The piano-voice format fosters spaces for musical exchange where improvisation takes center stage. Beyond the standards, Just Friends also incorporates original compositions as well as more contemporary pieces, affirming their desire to ground this repertoire in a contemporary sensibility.
