1997 saw some new and exceptional festival guests with concerts by Eric Clapton and Claude Nougaro. To the festival’s regular audiences were added fans of the English guitar hero and the singer from Toulouse. Some legendary stars of Afro-American music were also on the bill: Little Richard, B.B. King and Earth, Wind and Fire. There was practically a riot as a result of the high attendance – almost 90,000 people at the 14 nights.
