A truck-drivers’ strike disrupted the festival in 1992 and the spectators from Lyon were often blocked on the roads south of the city. On top of which, the climatic elements were disastrous – storms and autumnal temperatures. But all this failed to prevent the concerts from taking place in an enthusiastic atmosphere where the audience was introduced to several aspects of contemporary jazz (Cecil Taylor and Max Roach). A wonderful music and fireworks spectacle took place at the Cybèle Gardens on 12 July in partnership with the ARFI association. There was also an unforgettable Cajun brunch at the Verrière des Cordeliers with the singer Carrie Smith.
