When Keziah Jones released his first album in 1992, nobody had heard of him. It wouldn’t take long for his vigorous, percussive guitar playing, his dancing energy reminiscent of a funk band, and his poignant blues voice to create shockwaves. And thus was born “Blufunk”. Ever since, the Lagos-born artist has relentlessly fine-tuned his style, moving from recording studios to festival stages and back again. Keziah Jones will be opening the African night of the festival in what will be his 4th appearance in the Roman Theatre. And he’s aiming big: before his concert in trio, get ready for a genre-defying jam session combining dance and music with Nigerian choreographer and dancer Qudus Onikeku, in partnership with the Lyon Dance Biennale.
