When Keziah Jones released his first album in 1992, nobody had heard of him. It wouldn’t take long for his percussive, energetic guitar playing, his dancing energy reminiscent of a funk band, and his poignant blues voice to bowl over the world of music. “Blufunk” was born. Since then, the Lagos-born artist has ceaselessly polished his unique style, going from the recording studio to the festival stage and back again. Keziah Jones will be opening the African night of the festival in what will be his 4th appearance in the Roman Theatre. He’s aiming big: before his concert in trio, get set to enjoy an improvised jam session of a new kind mixing dance and music with the Nigerian choreographer Qudus Onikeku, in partnership with Lyon’s Biennale de la danse.
