The album Jazz Loves Disney 2 (2017) follows on from the first Jazz loves Disney released in 2016. Disney film themes are a real trip down memory lane. The songs are often inspired by jazz and Broadway, and arouse memories of phantasmagoria in young and old alike. In order to rework the classics from the Burbank studios in California on this record, producer Jay Newland has brought together an impressive international cast for the voices, including Jacob Collier, Bebel Gilberto, George Benson, Imany, Jamie Cullum, Thomas Dutronc, Angélique Kidjo, Madeleine Peyroux and Selah Sue. The recording is arranged by Rob Mounsey and The Amazing Keystone Big Band, with the Appassionato Orchestra contributing strings. On stage, it’s The Amazing Keystone Big Band, which plays on most of the tracks on the two albums, conducted by David Enhco in the driving seat. He steers the way with Steamboat Willie (1928), the theme to Disney’s first real film starring Mickey and Minnie and in its post-synchronisation. The Parisian big band and its guest vocalists (China Moses, Myles Sanko, Hugh Coltman and Sarah Mckenzie) sweep us along in the rearranged melodies of the Silly Symphonies, Beauty and the Beast, Snow White, The Jungle Book, The Little Mermaid, Cinderella, Tarzan, Mary Poppins and most recently Zootopia. Everyone should find a memory from their past.
